Police Chief Clears Fresno Candidate Singh of DUI
Fresno police said toxicology testing found no drugs in the system of City Council candidate Naindeep Singh, who had been arrested on suspicion of drug-impaired driving after a traffic stop for expired tags. Police Chief Mindy Casto apologized to Singh, said the incident would not appear on his arrest record and promised to refund his fees. Casto nevertheless defended the officer’s decision, citing probable cause and the officer’s assessment during field sobriety testing. Singh had denied the allegation, saying he cooperated with the investigation and passed a Breathalyzer; supporters questioned the arrest’s timing, shortly before the election.
