Police Report Teen Arrest in Bakersfield Fatal Shooting

Sixteen-year-old William Aviles, a North High School football player, was fatally shot early Oct. 31 near a large party on South Half Moon Drive in Bakersfield. Police said the shooting occurred around 3:35 a.m. and are asking witnesses to share information and video footage. Accounts differ on the status of the investigation: one report says a 15-year-old who knew Aviles was arrested, while other reports say no suspect had been identified or that suspects remained at large.
