Police-Resident Meetups Span Five Communities

Police departments and community partners in Texas, Washington, California and Australia are hosting informal “Coffee with a Cop” gatherings to help residents meet officers, ask questions and raise local concerns. Planned events include gatherings in Horseshoe Bay and Des Moines, Washington, as well as Moorpark and Goonellabah, with coffee and refreshments offered and no formal agenda at some locations. Horseshoe Bay’s event will use separate tables for divisions such as patrol, dispatch and criminal investigations, allowing for more focused conversations. A recent Santa Clarita Valley meet-and-greet offered a similar opportunity, with deputies saying these conversations help them hear residents’ concerns and identify community problems.
