Harrisburg police seek man with broken hip missing from psychiatric hospital
Harrisburg police are seeking Zachary Smith, 30, who left UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh on Oct. 8 and reportedly bought a bus ticket to the Harrisburg area the next day. Police say he has serious injuries—including a broken hip, fractured ribs and vertebrae, and internal injuries—and needs medical care, though he may appear to walk normally. Smith is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, with reddish-brown hair, a red beard and mustache, and numerous tattoos; he may seem frightened or confused. His family is concerned for his safety, and police ask anyone with information to call 911 or contact the listed police agencies.
