Politicians Acknowledge Voter Choices Across Regions
Political leaders in South Africa and the United States acknowledged voters’ decisions after setbacks in recent elections. KwaZulu-Natal’s ANC said it respected declining support and would take the results as a message about its performance; Greater Kokstad was the only municipality where it was assured a majority. In Texas, a Republican who described the result as part of a nationwide “wave election” called it fair and accepted the voters’ will, while thanking supporters and listing his legislative record. Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry likewise accepted his defeat to Democrat Janelle Stelson and emphasized the importance of a peaceful transfer of authority. San Angelo Mayor Harry Thomas also said he respected voters’ decision in a recall election.
