Armed man arrested after lunging at Ohio candidate Amy Acton at Canfield Fair
An armed individual lunged at Ohio Democratic gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton during her visit to the Canfield Fair near Youngstown on Sunday, according to her campaign. Multiple people were injured, while Acton and her husband, Eric, were reportedly unharmed. Mahoning County Democratic Party officials said the person knocked campaign volunteers to the ground, was found with weapons and taken into custody; authorities had not released the suspect’s identity, motive or details about the injuries. Law enforcement and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded, and the incident remains under investigation. Acton’s Republican opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy, and local Democratic officials condemned political violence and expressed hope that no one was seriously hurt.
