Rep. Tom Tiffany Injured After Plane Makes Emergency Lake Landing
Wisconsin Republican gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany suffered minor injuries Saturday night after a four-seat Beechcraft Bonanza lost power while approaching Wausau Downtown Airport and made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau. Tiffany and the pilot exited as the plane began to sink, swam to shallow water, and were rescued by emergency responders before being taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Tiffany said they were returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner and expressed gratitude to the pilot, firefighters and other first responders. The aircraft was marked with a buoy, and authorities asked people to keep their distance while the incident is investigated, with the FAA expected to take over the investigation.
