Trump Claims Democrats Orchestrated Butler Assassination Attempt

President Donald Trump accused the Biden administration and former FBI Director Christopher Wray of mishandling the investigation into the July 2024 assassination attempt at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed newly uncovered information showed evidence had been missing, altered or corrupted and alleged, without evidence, that the shooting was a Democratic plot intended to remove him from the election. The FBI has said gunman Thomas Crooks acted alone and found no immediate ideological motive, while investigators reviewed extensive physical and digital evidence. Newly disclosed records reportedly detail Crooks’ firearms purchases, the rifle he received from his father and the handling of his remains, but they do not establish Democratic involvement. The attack wounded Trump and two other people and killed one rally attendee before a Secret Service sniper killed Crooks.
