White House Launches Trump TV Stream After Barring Three Outlets

The White House launched “Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” a 24-hour YouTube stream, and promoted its official app as a direct source for presidential remarks, administration announcements, speeches and selected archival footage. The initiative came days after President Donald Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House workspace access, accusing them of publishing “fake news”; the outlets sued, alleging violations of the First Amendment and due-process rights. ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News suspended their shared television pool rather than replace CNN, leaving Trump’s helipad ribbon-cutting and departure for the United Nations without normal live television coverage, while an administration livestream made his remarks largely inaudible because of helicopter noise. Other news organizations also reduced pooled coverage or declined to publish images or audio from Trump’s events. Administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, defended the policy by saying the outlets were not shut down and could still cover the White House, while critics called the streaming platform and app state-run media and an effort to bypass independent journalism.
