Stockton Council Removes Vice Mayor Jason Lee
The Stockton City Council voted 4-2 to remove Jason Lee as vice mayor after rejecting his offer to resign; he will remain the District 6 councilmember through 2028. The council also voted 6-1 to remove him as chair of the audit committee, which oversees city finances. Mayor Christina Fugazi said the committee decision was based on concerns raised by city records, not political retaliation. The dispute comes amid months of tensions over financial oversight, spending and transparency. Residents voiced support for and opposition to Lee, with some warning that removing him from committees could leave District 6 underrepresented.
