Federal Voter Fraud Cases Span Three States
Federal prosecutors charged 28 California residents, all described by the Justice Department as lawful permanent residents, with election-related offenses including allegedly registering or voting unlawfully; 11 were arrested in a statewide operation. Among them, Sacramento resident Kamlesh Shah is accused of falsely declaring himself a U.S. citizen before registering and voting in the November 2024 election; Shah says he believed a poll worker had approved his ballot, and the case could affect his citizenship application. Separately, federal authorities charged nine noncitizens in Pennsylvania with allegedly voting in the 2022 or 2024 elections, and a previously convicted felon in Kentucky was indicted over alleged repeated voter registration and voting in three elections. The cases involve separate allegations, and defendants have not been shown to have affected any election outcome.
