Norcross Buys Trump Plaza Site; No New Casinos
George Norcross, a prominent New Jersey Democratic power broker, and undisclosed partners acquired the former Trump Plaza site on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk from a company linked to billionaire Carl Icahn. County records indicate the sale was recorded in September for about $5 million. The casino closed in 2014, and its main tower was demolished in 2021, though an East Tower, parking garage and operating Rainforest Cafe remain. Norcross’s spokesperson called the oceanfront property a development opportunity, but the group has not disclosed plans or a timeline. Mayor Marty Small welcomed the investment while saying no additional casinos will be permitted.
