Teachers Indicted in Separate Student Abuse Cases
Former Indianapolis Public Schools special education teacher Hunter Sesemann was indicted on nine charges, including felony battery, over allegations that he abused three students with disabilities at Washington Irving Neighborhood School in 2025. The allegations include tripping and dragging a child, pushing students and other physical mistreatment; attorneys for the families say the students were nonverbal and that the school district failed to properly inform parents after reports to child welfare authorities. The families’ attorneys are preparing civil lawsuits against Sesemann and IPS, raising questions about the students’ treatment and officials’ actions. Separately, San Antonio charter school teacher Priscilla Castro was indicted on charges of indecency with a child and an improper relationship with a student after investigators alleged she fondled a 15-year-old during school hours and later contacted the student from blocked numbers. KIPP Texas said it fired Castro after an internal investigation.
