Hamadeh Offers $10,000 Reward in Reported Assault Case
Rep. Abe Hamadeh, a Republican representing Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men suspected of sexually assaulting his Democratic opponent, Bernadette Greene-Placentia. Greene-Placentia told investigators she was attacked while repairing campaign signs near 99th Avenue and Bell Road in Sun City in the early hours of Aug. 14; she reported the assault weeks later, saying trauma, fear and embarrassment delayed her coming forward. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and the suspects remain at large. The reward was announced on the day Democratic lawmakers held an event supporting Greene-Placentia; her campaign said she did not attend because recounting the assault had taken a toll. A campaign spokesperson questioned Hamadeh’s consistency, citing his opposition to extraditing Andrew and Tristan Tate to Britain, where they face charges related to rape and sex trafficking.
