School Threats Prompt Lockdown, Detentions in Texas, Missouri
A 14-year-old girl accused of posting an online threat against Laredo ISD faces a felony terroristic-threat charge and was ordered to remain in juvenile custody pending another hearing. The threat, which did not specify a campus, prompted all district schools to enter secure mode; police detained the suspect before classes began and later lifted the alert. Investigators found a loaded handgun at her home, and the county attorney said the investigation is continuing, including whether mental health or bullying factors were involved. In a separate incident in Sedalia, Missouri, police detained a student after a social media post about Smith-Cotton Junior High, but determined the threat was not credible and said students were never in danger; that investigation remains ongoing.
