Trump Calls Omar to Resign, Alleges Immigration Fraud
President Donald Trump called for Rep. Ilhan Omar to resign, alleging she used a false name and committed immigration fraud after a federal court filing identified her as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.” The filing did not establish fraud or explain the name variation, and Omar says Ilhan Omar is her real name and denies wrongdoing. Federal authorities are investigating her immigration and citizenship records; agents searched her Washington home on Oct. 12 and took phones and other belongings, which Omar described as political intimidation. Prosecutors said the warrant had not been fully executed, and the scope of the investigation remains unclear; Omar has not been charged. The separate, unproven allegation that she married her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who critics claim was her brother, has been repeatedly denied by Omar, and the administration has not publicly established the claims Trump made.
