Denver to Penalize Veo Over Sidewalk Violations
Denver will begin enforcing rules against sidewalk riding and improper parking by Veo’s shared scooters and bikes on Nov. 1, after the City Attorney’s Office found the company out of compliance with parts of its contract and city ordinances. The rules require technology to deter sidewalk riding; Veo’s data showed more than 338,000 sidewalk-riding events in its first two months, though some recorded events involved permitted sidewalk use. Residents will be able to report concerns to the city, but officials have not yet detailed the enforcement process or penalties; Veo says it plans to issue rider fines, add parking corrals and improve detection technology. Separately, Broomfield officials have directed staff to draft a proposed law targeting reckless or careless use of small electric vehicles, following reports of about a dozen crashes and 70 complaints since January 2025; the proposal could make parents liable for fines when juveniles violate the law.
