Trump Rallies Iowa Republicans, Promotes Farm Relief

President Donald Trump rallied in Sioux City on Oct. 22 to support Iowa Republicans ahead of the November midterms, including Senate candidate Ashley Hinson, whose race against Democrat Josh Turek has become competitive. Iowa Republicans are defending an open Senate seat, three House seats and the governor’s office. With farmers facing delayed harvests, high diesel and fertilizer costs, and trade-related export problems, Trump promoted an $8 billion fuel-relief program, expanded refining capacity and a tax waiver for certain diesel purchases. Hinson has described herself as an ally of Trump who will also challenge him when she believes it is necessary. Trump is scheduled to return to Iowa for a rally in Dubuque on Nov. 1; the venue has not been announced.
