Democrats Outpace Republicans in Louisiana Early Voting
Louisiana early voting has drawn more than 363,000 ballots, with voting continuing Monday and Tuesday before Election Day on Nov. 3. Democrats have cast more ballots than Republicans so far, and Black voters account for a larger share of early ballots than they did at the same point in 2022, according to state Democratic Party figures. Analysts expect the Democratic advantage could grow as early voting concludes, but say turnout patterns alone do not determine the outcome; Republicans have recently dominated statewide elections, and Democrat Jamie Davis is considered an underdog against Republican Julia Letlow in the U.S. Senate race. Competitive open U.S. House races and a ballot featuring 10 constitutional amendments and local contests are also drawing voters.
