Dayton NAACP Urges DeWine to Grant Clemency
The Dayton NAACP is asking Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine to grant clemency to China Arnold, who is serving life without parole for the 2005 aggravated murder of her 28-day-old daughter, Paris Talley. At an Oct. 28 press conference, branch president Derrick Foward said the organization would send DeWine a letter urging Arnold’s release, noting that she has other children who could be reunited with their mother. DeWine declined to comment on the request. Arnold was convicted in her third trial after an earlier conviction was overturned; the U.S. Supreme Court later declined to hear her appeal.
