Air Force One Makes Low Passes Over White House Halloween Event

Donald and Melania Trump hosted a White House Halloween celebration for invited families, handing out candy amid seasonal decorations, music and campaign-season activity. The event’s finale was a low-altitude flyover by the president’s Qatar-gifted aircraft, which made two passes over the White House. The flight had been coordinated with officials and prompted a temporary pause in arrivals and departures at Reagan National Airport, but residents said the warning came with little notice. The unexpected sound and sight alarmed some Washington residents, several of whom said they feared a crash; the episode was especially unsettling in a city where low-flying aircraft are unusual.
