Boulder Firebomber Pleads Guilty to Federal Hate Crime Charges
Mohamed Soliman pleaded guilty to 12 federal charges, including nine hate crimes, for the June 2025 firebombing of a Boulder demonstration supporting Israeli hostages held in Gaza. He admitted targeting victims because of their actual or perceived religion or national origin. The attack, carried out with Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower, injured 14 people; 82-year-old Karen Diamond died of her injuries. Soliman is already serving a state sentence of life without parole plus more than 2,000 years, and prosecutors and defense lawyers will jointly seek a federal sentence of life plus 50 years. Federal prosecutors had declined to seek the death penalty.
