Postal Workers Charged Over 1,400 Political Mailpieces
Federal prosecutors have charged postal workers in Kansas and California in separate cases involving allegedly stolen or withheld political mail. In Kansas, a postal worker is accused of taking 4,404 pieces of mail, including nearly 400 mailers tied to Republican candidates and groups; investigators reportedly found no political mail for other parties at her home. In Sacramento County, letter carrier Antoine Rashad Polite is charged with obstructing and delaying mail after prosecutors said he withheld 1,020 pieces of campaign mail and ballot-proposition materials from deliverable addresses. Postal officials recovered the Sacramento mail and delivered most of it. The allegations in both cases have not been proven in court.
