Republican Alfonso Wins Wisconsin House Seat, Becomes Youngest Member of Congress
Republican Michael Alfonso, 26, won Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District with roughly 56% of the vote, defeating Democrat Fred Clark, who received about 44%. Alfonso will become the youngest member of Congress, keeping the seat in Republican hands as incumbent Tom Tiffany runs for governor. The political newcomer represents a rural, strongly Republican district across northern Wisconsin and is the son-in-law of former district representative and current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Endorsed by Donald Trump, Alfonso campaigned as a Trump ally, emphasizing affordability and making the American dream attainable, and supported conservative education and school policies. He defended his lack of political experience, saying voters wanted someone who would work hard and represent their values. His campaign drew attention for support routed through a super PAC from Duffy’s dormant campaign account.
