Riebe Rejects Resignation Calls After Utah Caucus Ouster
Utah Sen. Kathleen Riebe says she will not resign after the other five Democrats in the Senate voted to expel her from their caucus and called for her resignation following an independent investigation into workplace discrimination and harassment allegations. The caucus said investigators found a pattern of conduct likely motivated by race, national origin or ethnicity, as well as statements about employment decisions tied to sexual orientation or other protected characteristics; a published summary also described alleged intern-placement practices and policy violations. Riebe says she has not received the full report or been given an opportunity to respond, disputes characterizations of her conduct, and says she has requested the findings. She argues voters elected her four times and says she will continue representing her constituents while pursuing internal processes.
