Florida U.S. Attorney Resigns After Stalled Probe of Trump Foes
Jason Reding Quiñones resigned Friday as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida after Justice Department leaders pressed him to leave. His departure came amid a broader wave of resignations following Republicans’ midterm losses, including those of Civil Rights Division chief Harmeet Dhillon and National Security Division head John Eisenberg. Quiñones had overseen a controversial effort to investigate officials involved in past probes of Donald Trump, but the promised case did not materialize; reports said dissatisfaction with his performance had grown and sensitive inquiries were shifted to a senior deputy. His office also secured an indictment against former Cuban leader Raúl Castro. Attorney General Todd Blanche thanked Quiñones for his service without publicly addressing the stalled inquiry.
Where do you stand?
