FBI Arrests Former Kansas Prosecutor on Child-Pornography Indictment

Michael Jolstead, 40, a former assistant district attorney in Sedgwick County, Kansas, was arrested in Wichita by the FBI on November 6 under a federal warrant tied to an indictment returned in Washington state. Prosecutors say the five-count indictment alleges production and attempted production of child pornography, attempted online enticement of a minor, and receipt and possession of child pornography; the charges remain allegations, and Jolstead is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. He had worked for the county since June 29 and was dismissed after his arrest. The district attorney’s office said he completed required background and Kansas bar admission checks, and said it would address the matter through appropriate processes.
