Portland Salon Faces Second $2.5M Herpes Lawsuit

A 31-year-old woman identified in court documents as J.S. is seeking $2.5 million from Portland’s PDX Nails, alleging she contracted herpes after an August 2025 manicure and hand massage during which the technician did not wear gloves. She says burning and a blister appeared soon after the appointment and that she has experienced recurring outbreaks; the alleged connection to the salon has not been established in court. The lawsuit also names Oregon health and licensing agencies, accusing them of failing to act after a previous customer brought a similar claim. That customer, identified as S.R., alleged an infection following a 2023 visit and settled her lawsuit in July 2025 for an undisclosed amount.
