Postal Worker Charged in Package Gun Thefts
Aubrey Dante, a 54-year-old U.S. Postal Service employee from Burrillville, Rhode Island, faces dozens of charges after investigators alleged he opened mail parcels and stole firearms and other valuables while working at Providence’s Corliss Street processing center. The investigation began after packages containing guns, jewelry, coins and trading cards were reported missing, and involved Providence police, postal inspectors, ATF and the state attorney general’s office. A search of Dante’s home reportedly uncovered eight firearms, including stolen guns, along with large quantities of cocaine, marijuana and other drugs. Dante was ordered held without bail and is scheduled to return to court for a status hearing.
