Power-line incidents close roads in Greer, Charleston

Two South Carolina road closures were reported after utility infrastructure was damaged. In Greer, West Poinsett Street between South Beverly Lane and South Howell Street was closed Saturday morning after a utility pole and power lines fell across the road; police did not know when it would reopen and advised drivers to take alternate routes. In Charleston, a tractor-trailer struck power lines and utility poles, closing Morrison Drive in both directions between Romney and Huger streets, as well as the U.S. 17 off-ramp onto Morrison Drive. Motorists were urged to avoid the area while crews cleared the roadway.
