Prep Soccer Teams Advance Across Regional Tournaments

St. Peter’s boys rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Southwest Minnesota Christian in a penalty shootout and win the Section 2A title, earning a spot in Minnesota’s Class A state tournament. In Ohio, all four Olentangy boys teams won their tournament openers and advanced to district finals, with Olentangy Liberty needing overtime and the Pioneers recording an 8-0 shutout. In Idaho’s 6A girls state tournament, Lake City beat Eagle 3-2 in double overtime on Chloe Burkholder’s 109th-minute penalty kick to reach the semifinals. In Minnesota, Esko’s girls won 8-1 to reach the Class A state tournament for a fifth straight year, while Cloquet’s girls also claimed a section title and state berth.
