President Lee to Deliver UN Keynote Before First Mexico Visit in 16 Years

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will visit New York and Mexico from September 21 to 27, attending the United Nations General Assembly before making the first South Korean state visit to Mexico in 16 years. In New York, Lee is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on September 22 outlining proposals for UN reform, South Korea’s contributions to addressing global challenges, and his vision for peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. He is also expected to meet or engage with U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres and leaders including current U.S. President Donald Trump and Australia’s prime minister. Lee will present South Korea’s economic policies to global investors and seek practical cooperation in areas including energy, semiconductors, science and technology, and defense. In Mexico, he plans to broaden bilateral cooperation beyond trade and supply chains to include artificial intelligence, aerospace, defense, energy, minerals, and Korean cultural content.
