Prosecutors Seek 14 Months for Omar Attacker

Federal prosecutors are seeking a 14-month prison sentence for Anthony James Kazmierczak, who pleaded guilty to assaulting a United States officer after spraying vinegar from a syringe at Rep. Ilhan Omar during a Jan. 27 town hall in Minneapolis. Prosecutors say the planned attack created a credible threat of violence and caused Omar and others to fear bodily harm, though the sentencing guidelines allow a range of four to 14 months. Kazmierczak is scheduled to be sentenced by a federal judge on Sept. 17.
