Protesters Storm Serbian TV After Vučić Election Defeat
About 30 protesters entered Belgrade’s Informer TV newsroom during live coverage Monday, surrounding editor-in-chief and owner Dragan Vučićević and calling for his arrest. The incident came amid a second night of celebrations after the student-led Student List defeated Aleksandar Vučić’s alliance, ending its 14-year hold on power. Vučić condemned the newsroom protest as an attack on free speech and journalism, while Vučićević accused the incoming movement of seeking to ban media outlets. Student List candidate Ilija Srdanović urged supporters to remain calm and avoid violence as the movement prepares to form a government. Serbia’s Independent Association of Journalists said it would seek to revoke Informer TV’s license, citing alleged systematic violations of law and broadcasting obligations.
