Quilting Groups Mark Milestones, Aid Cancer Patients

Quilting groups and businesses are marking milestones while keeping the craft connected to their communities. In Austin, artist Suzzette Boston is leading a five-week beginner-friendly course covering quilting techniques and materials, with participants completing a project to take home. In Remsen, R&R Quilting and Embroidery is celebrating 12 years in business, showcasing its handmade and embroidered goods sold at regional craft shows. Chilliwack’s PieceMakers Quilting Guild is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a show featuring members’ work, demonstrations, and raffle quilts, while Vernon’s Silver Star Quilters are marking 40 years with a fall sale and an ongoing contribution of quilts to local organizations. Separately, Connecticut nonprofit Quilts that Care has donated more than 9,000 quilts to cancer patients at 24 facilities since 2012 and recently honored breast wellness and cancer care teams at Griffin Hospital.
