Quincy Beats Goode 88-84 in Illinois-Record 172-Point Game
Quincy High School beat Chicago’s Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy 88-84 in a remarkable first-round Illinois Class 6A playoff game that lasted more than four hours and produced a state-record 172 combined points. Goode led 60-59 at halftime after a nearly two-hour first half, but darkness forced play to stop with 3:42 remaining; the teams moved to a nearby lit field to finish. Quincy quarterback Bryson Little threw a state-record eight touchdown passes and added two rushing scores. The unusual Friday afternoon kickoff was arranged to accommodate Quincy’s long trip, and Goode’s field had no lights.
