Rashford Returns as Manchester United Face City
Marcus Rashford returns to Manchester United’s starting lineup against Manchester City in the first Manchester derby of the 2026-27 Premier League season, marking his first appearance in the fixture for United since 2024 after loan spells with Aston Villa and Barcelona. Rashford has scored seven career goals against City and will be central to United’s effort to improve on an uneven start to the domestic campaign. United will be without injured left-back Luke Shaw, while Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire return to the XI and Youri Tielemans joins Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in midfield. City’s new signing Elliot Anderson is set to make his derby debut, with Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo and Phil Foden selected to support Erling Haaland. The match is also Enzo Maresca’s first Manchester derby in charge of City after replacing Pep Guardiola.
