Red Hat Hosts Final Concert Before Raleigh Redevelopment
Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh held its final concert at its current site with Steve Lacy, after Victoria Monét canceled her scheduled performance because of production challenges. The venue, which opened in 2010 and hosted concerts and community events, is being dismantled and relocated one block south to make way for an expansion of the Raleigh Convention Center. The replacement amphitheater is expected to open in 2027 with capacity for more than 6,000 people and improved seating, sightlines and backstage facilities. The broader convention-center project also includes new meeting and event space and an Omni hotel.
