Red Wings Goalie Gibson Leaves Game With Lower-Body Injury
Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson left Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a lower-body injury and did not return after playing the first period. The team has not specified how or when he was hurt or how long he might be out. Daniil Tarasov took over in relief and could start if Gibson misses additional time; Detroit may also call up a goaltender from AHL Grand Rapids. The injury comes less than two weeks after Gibson left another game with an upper-body injury, and follows a difficult start to the season in which he has gone 4-5-1 with a 3.37 goals-against average and an .860 save percentage.
