South Korean President's Passport Data Among 168 Exposed in Leak
Passport and other personal information belonging to 168 people, including South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, the first lady, senior officials, presidential security personnel and reporters, was posted online in June in a file believed to list passengers on the presidential jet during a European trip. The exposed details reportedly included dates of birth and passport numbers, and the file was accessible to paid users of a malware-scanning website. Because it appeared before the trip and identified close security staff, the leak has raised concerns about personal safety and presidential security. The presidential office said it had taken response measures and that the Foreign Ministry and other agencies would pursue additional action; how the file was uploaded and accessed remains unclear.
