Reporter, bystander rescue driver from Queensland floodwaters
An ABC reporter and another bystander swam through floodwaters at Morayfield, north of Brisbane, and pulled a driver from a four-wheel-drive as it sank after becoming stranded on a flooded road. The rescue came amid intense rainfall and flash-flooding across southeast Queensland, where some areas received around 170 millimeters in a short period and authorities warned of further severe weather. Flooding also inundated a Moreton Bay campsite used by people experiencing homelessness, prompting a local charity to call for safe, dry emergency shelter for residents.
