Rhode Island Grower Sets Uncertified Pumpkin Record

Rhode Island grower Ron Wallace presented a 3,156-pound pumpkin at the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off, making it the first reported pumpkin to top 3,000 pounds and surpassing the previous record by nearly 300 pounds. The previous Guinness-recognized record belonged to England’s Ian Paton, whose pumpkin weighed about 2,857 pounds. Wallace has set multiple records before, including growing the first pumpkin to exceed one ton in 2012. Guinness has not yet formally certified Wallace’s pumpkin or its weight.
