Roadwork planned, underway across five states
Transportation agencies are planning or carrying out roadwork across Iowa, Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina, with projects bringing lane closures, detours and extended construction timelines. In Clinton County, Iowa, work planned for 2027 will realign about a mile of U.S. 30 near Wheatland and replace two bridges; traffic will be detoured during bridge demolition and roadway connections. Palm Beach County has 206 active road projects, including a major Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange rebuild that will bring recurring overnight I-95 lane and ramp closures. In Marion County, Tennessee, overnight resurfacing on I-24 will involve single-lane closures and intermittent ramp closures, while hurricane-damaged U.S. 176 and Green River Cove Road in North Carolina face extensive repairs expected to continue into late 2029, with officials citing safety and emergency-access concerns.
