The Houston Rockets converted Oscar Tshiebwe and Julian Phillips to two-way contracts ahead of the regular-season opener, filling their available two-way spots alongside Quadir Copeland. Houston waived guard Sean Pedulla to make room. The deals let Tshiebwe and Phillips split time between the Rockets and their G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers; two-way players face limits on NBA game availability and are not eligible for the postseason unless moved to standard contracts. Tshiebwe, a former Kentucky star and 2022 National Player of the Year, is known for his rebounding, while Phillips is a 2023 first-round pick who has played for several NBA teams.
