Rubštavičius drops eligibility lawsuit as Auburn parts with general manager
Auburn basketball signee Mantas Rubštavičius has voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit seeking NCAA eligibility and will not play for the Tigers, opting to pursue professional opportunities in Europe. Reports say information that he had taken college courses and enrolled while playing in Europe undermined his eligibility case; Auburn general manager Brian Kloman reportedly knew about the coursework but did not inform the rest of the staff, and the university confirmed Kloman is no longer employed. Rubštavičius, a 24-year-old Lithuanian who has played professionally in Europe for years, was expected to be an important wing for Auburn. Coach Steven Pearl thanked him for his time with the program and wished him success.
