Russell Returns After Ankle Injury Against LSU
Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell left Saturday’s game against LSU after an awkward tackle and went to the medical tent with an ankle injury, but returned with the ankle taped and led a touchdown drive. Before the matchup, Nick Saban warned that LSU’s pressure could force mistakes and urged Russell to avoid risky plays, while scouting coverage noted that the freshman’s efficiency and ability to make plays with his legs posed a challenge for the Tigers. Russell had entered the game with a strong season, including more than 2,000 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes through eight games.
