The departures remain far smaller than the mass exodus of 2022, with no widespread border lines or flight shortages, but the Kovcheg support organization reported nearly eight times as many emigration inquiries in the latest month as in May. Some Russians fear losing military deferments or being forced into combat, though Kremlin officials have denied reports of an imminent mobilization.
