Topper, Lipton Cup and J/70 events span UK, US and Canada

The Allen SuperSouth Topper Championships at Poole Yacht Club drew 71 sailors, with strong winds limiting Sunday to one race; Alfie Tollit and Emily Doughty were among the leading 5.3 and 4.2 fleet performers. San Diego Yacht Club is set to host the 111th Sir Thomas Lipton Cup, bringing 12 yacht clubs together for matched-boat racing, with defending champion SDYC facing teams from the U.S. and Canada. Lake Forest Sailing finished among the top 15 at the Women’s Nationals in San Diego and placed first among Midwest teams, with its B fleet earning a top-five finish. At the RC Laser Nationals and Southern Championships at Longham Lakes, Chris Jermyn won the national title in difficult, windy conditions, while Jamie Blair took the Southern Championship. Paul Green’s Progress won two of three opening races at the J/70 North American Championship in Annapolis, building a five-point lead in a 54-team fleet.
