Salisbury Man Charged in $175,000 Home Fire
A 66-year-old Salisbury man, Michael Satterfield, is accused of deliberately setting fire to his home in the 6000 block of Hunters Mill Drive on Oct. 24. Investigators say the fire began in the attached garage; about 40 firefighters brought it under control in roughly 30 minutes, with damage estimated at $175,000. Authorities say Satterfield left five cats inside, but firefighters rescued them unharmed. He faces arson and other charges, including five counts of animal cruelty, and is being held without bond after authorities served an arrest warrant while he was detained on traffic charges. If convicted on all charges, he could face more than 72 years in prison and over $105,000 in fines.
