Salisbury Man Pleads Guilty in 20-Year-Old Murder Case
Tyrone Hughey, 44, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2006 stabbing death of Denise Horsey in Salisbury, Maryland. Horsey was found with multiple stab wounds in an alley and later died at a hospital; the case went cold after investigators initially lacked enough evidence to prosecute. Salisbury police reopened the case in 2025, re-interviewed witnesses and found new ones who told detectives Hughey had admitted to the killing and described efforts to destroy evidence. Hughey remains in custody, and sentencing is scheduled for January 2027; he is also serving a sentence in an unrelated case.
